LET GO THE EXCESS BAGGAGE

You were born with great talent and potential. You have a specific assignment that you and you alone can accomplish. Everything you need to complete this assignment is right inside you. For many people the tendency is to look outside the self to find the right tools to tackle the assignment. As a result of this action, many people have drifted away and have lost it all in the process.

Are you one of those people drifting in search of the tools? Are you in the category of people who do not believe that everything you need and will ever need to be a success is right inside you? You see when God created you He made sure that everything that you need and will ever need to accomplish the job is provided. You were born with talent, a great personality, great potential and the basic ingredients for success.

So the question we all ask is: if all I need and will ever need to be a success and live a life of significance is right inside me how come I am so far from reaching any of my goals and vision? How come that I feel that I do not have the DNA for success? How come some people are making a success out of their lives and I seem to be swimming in the sea of failure and mediocrity or barely surviving? You have asked questions that those who are living a life of quiet desperation are all asking. You are not alone and that should not be a source of comfort to make you continue to live such a life.

You see, God created you to win in life, be successful according to what He created you for, to live a life of significance, leave a legacy, and inspire your world with your aspirations. You were wired to make a difference in your part of the world and enjoy life to the fullest. What is stopping most people is excess baggage!

What is an excess baggage? Excess baggage is all those things stopping you from achieving your dreams, goals, or vision. They are the show stoppers! A list of excess baggage includes the following: putting more emphasis on the creation rather than the Creator, indecision, procrastination, inaction, thinking the wrong thoughts, negative attitude, wrong associations, debt, low self esteem, relationship challenges, fear of failure, complaining, talking to yourself in a disempowering way, and others.

It is important to note that you cannot fly like an eagle and still carry a heavy load. If you really want to achieve your dreams, you have to fly with the eagles and stop scratching with the turkeys. One of the major reasons why you seem to be going round and round in circles is because of the excess baggage you are carrying. You may not be able to change your destination overnight but you have the capacity and power to decide to change the direction now.

How do you accomplish that?

The first step is to identify all the excess baggage you are carrying and make sure to clearly identify each one and write it down. There is clarity when you write down what you have identified.

The second step is to come up with an action plan to work on each of the excess baggage identified. You should identify someone you want to be accountable to. This person may be a spouse, a friend, a boss, or that person who is interested in your growth and development. Have this person periodically check where you are in resolving the challenge.

The third step is to celebrate success in addressing any of the areas you have worked on. What gets rewarded provides a springboard for other successes. So celebrate success along the journey.

As you work on the challenges remember to ask for God’s help because He is interested in your success more than you can imagine. He created you and when you are successful and living a life of significance it puts a smile on his face. Just like when someone you love is successful, you tend to be very happy. God loves His creation to be a success and you are one of His creations.

Let go the excess baggage and decide to live this life to the fullest. You were born and created to have just that. Do not shortchange yourself! Live and live really great! Greatness belongs to those willing to travel light!
